Longcauseway closure

The Longcauseway closure has now been clarified by the council and is due to come into effect this week.

You can download a pdf version to see the detail by clicking here.

The closure is part of the government's Active Travel initiative being tested in Dewsbury.

The Chamber's opinion

The closure of Longcauseway means that the only entry to the east of the town is via either Northgate or Cliffe Street and Crackenedge Lane.

If a large proportion of traffic is being routed past an under-utilised car park then why not take advantage of the situation and maximise the use of that car park?

The Chamber of Trade supports the initiative as part of broader measures including trialling the conversion of Cliffe Street car park into a Park & Ride destination for shoppers and visitors to Dewsbury.
